perceptual expansion suit
The Perceptual Expansion Suit is a one-size-fits-all wireless modular bodysuit that allows you to perform the video/sound of the space using parts of the body you’re normally not used to thinking about. How much light you let hit the sensors under the arms and behind the knees changes the space, bringing these parts of the body to the forefront of your experience. The dialogue between your body’s movements and the video/sound creates a playful environment for you to comfortably explore areas of your body usually left forgotten.
This exploration also serves as a performance, as the suit allows you to VJ/DJ for others in the process of usage. The SensorNodes, comprised of magnetic snaps under the arms and behind the knees, allow the participant to use a variety of sensors with the suit instead of only light sensors. Through this modular construction, the Perceptual Expansion Space/Suit becomes a versatile performance and exploratory tool.
